And so it begins (ahem...again). Between Blue Lines is going to be a blog where I focus primarily on highlighting my current poetry projects. That may include just random poems I'm working on in my personal life as well...aren't you the lucky ducks?
I am currently collaborating with Poetry Salon to write custom poems for special occasions. It's been incredibly fun and rewarding. I feel a bit like a hired bard--which is awesome. Jennifer Styperk is the founder and continuing guru of Poetry Salon. She has created a format where the clients fill in details about the person or event for which they are hoping to have a poem crafted. I've been lucky enough to do mostly wedding anniversary poems and marriage proposal poems. I did one very sweet poem for a young lady for her birthday from her entire family. It's just been so much fun!
While I loved my work with Jeanine Payer (a jewelry designer in San Francisco) I'm sorry to say that she has retired. She closed the door on her little jewelry box shop in San Fran and began devoting her time to her family. Her designs were so amazing--just the greatest pieces of sweet designs with the amazing words of poets etched on them. I am proud of the pieces I've acquired over the years and hope that people are still accessing her work at some of the online vendors and shops who carry her final pieces.
I've done many things with my poetry over the years (including a piece for a MN AIDS bike ride, naming for Target, and writing personal pieces for my friends' weddings/birthdays/anniversaries/etc.). I've been pretty lucky, I'd say.
Stay tuned for a lot of poetry coming your way. As I said...so it begins (again).
